Dons Games has announced the release of SkyFighters 1918, a World War I-era flight sim for Mac OS X. The game is currently available for download as a public beta, and cost $29.95 to register.
SkyFighters 1918 puts you in the cockpit of vintage World War I-era biplanes as you dogfight and fly missions, by yourself or online with other players. You can strafe, bomb ground targets, create custom paint jobs for your aircraft, and more. It’s from the same developer of OS X SkyFighters 1945.
The game includes a mission builder that lets you create your own missions — you can set up dogfights or create missions where you have to destroy ground targets. You can also mail other SkyFighters 1918 users your missions to play themselves, or play missions with other users online.
You can fly either a Sopwith Camel or a Fokker Dr. VII. The game includes 18 missions over Europe’s Wester Front, and supports network play for up to eight players.
System requirements call for a Mac with a 1GHz or faster processor, 32MB VRAM and Mac OS X v10.4 or later. A joystick or mouse can be used for controlling the airplane.
