Atempo on Tuesday announced an update to its Time Navigator enterprise backup and recovery software that makes it Leopard-compatible.
Time Navigator is, philosophically anyway, similar to Apple’s own Time Machine feature in Leopard, in that it’s a time-based backup and recovery system. But Time Navigator is heavily optimized for enterprise environments where you have to manage backups across multiple servers, department workgroups or multi-location networks. It supports disk-to-disk-to-tape backup systems, handles encryption and decryption of data, manages snapshot technologies, supports mixed Storage Area Network (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) architectures and more.
Time Navigator for Mac OS X is an extension of that capability that provides enterprise backup and archive for Mac clients. It features a native Mac OS X interface and widget that helps users manage data across storage media. The software supports policy-based administration, so network managers can define user, group and department control of files and archives.
