LANrev LP on Wednesday announced the release of LANrev 4.6, an update to its lifecycle management software for multi-platform computing networks. The new version is available for download from the Web site.
LANrev is used by network administrators to inventory their networks, deploy software, advise on missing updates and packages, oversee software distribution, and collect that information to dispersal to a database or other tracking system. It works on both Mac OS X and Windows platforms.
New to version 4.6 is Mac OS X v10.5 “Leopard” support, and with it, many Leopard-specific features. LANrev 4.6 adds integration with Time Machine, for example, to let administrators enable, check the status of, and manage the backups of Time Machine-enabled Macs on the network. New remote control integration with Mac OS X v10.5’s “Screen Sharing” feature is also supported.
LANrev’s automatic patch management no supports Mac OS X v10.5. System images can be repackaged faster, and all LANrev Mac binaries are now code-signed to help maintain data integrity and avoid malware infestation.
