Microspot on Friday introduced DWG Viewer 1.6.6, a new version of its 2D AutoCAD file viewer for the Macintosh. Current users can update to the new version for free; DWG Viewer costs $55.
DWG Viewer helps Mac users view 2D design files created using Autodesk’s popular AutoCAD drafting software, which only runs on Windows. You can show and hide individual layers, zoom in and pan around the document, use markup tools and add textual annotations, You can also print and save files as PDFs.
New to the 1.6.6 version is Universal binary support that lets it run natively on both Intel and PowerPC-based Macs. The software has also been improved with updated support for the AutoCAD 2007 file format.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later, G4/700MHz or faster, 250MB RAM and 100MB hard disk space.
