Through their casual game portal Macfun.com, Freeverse Software has taken one of their wackier ideas and made it even more wacky: For a limited time, you can download SimStapler Arena for free.
SimStapler was an early Freeverse software toy — a simple application that showed an image of a stapler on the screen. Clicking on the image caused a simple animation to rotate as a finger pressed down on the stapler, yielding a satisfying staple click noise. The software even included a counter so you could see how many times you pressed the virtual stapler. That’s all there was to it. Until now.
SimStapler Arena re-envisions SimpStapler as an online game, of sorts — now your scores are recorded online, so you can “live in a virtual stapling world, competing with other online players for stapling dominance,” according to the developer, whose tongues are clearly planted firmly in their cheeks.
Macfun.con has also been updated with some new content — Mahjong Roadshow and Nanny Mania. Demos are available for download.
