Parallels, has taken on the Parallels name for its new corporate identity. The company also unveiled its Optimized Computing vision for its future products.
“On the branding front, Parallels is a well known brand and has a very strong corporate image, largely due to the fact that Parallels Desktop for Mac is so popular and has such a massive, fiercely loyal fan base,” Ben Rudolph, Parallels Director of Corporate Communications, told Macworld.
Parallels Optimized Computing vision involves container-based virtualization and a suite of complementary automation solutions, explained CEO Serguei Beloussov. The company said that 2008 would be a big year — Parallels will release Virtuozzo 4.0 and major updates to Parallels Desktop and Parallels Workstation.
The new year will also see the introduction of new virtualization management software that will manage not only Virtuozzo and Parallels but also popular third-party virtualization technologies in a single, flexible solution.
Mac users have nothing to worry about with the rebranding efforts of the parent company — that part of the company will continue to work on its products like they always have.
“You have my word that the new name and vision doesn’t mean that the Mac community becomes any less important to us,” said Rudolph. “Macs are in our DNA, and we’ll continue to show it with our soon-to-be-launched Parallels Server product and more updates and upgrades to Parallels Desktop.”
