Freeverse Software on Wednesday announced the release of Hordes of Orcs, a new game for Mac OS X. It costs $24.95, and a demo is available for download.
Hordes of Orcs is a “tower defense” strategy game originally developed by MrJoy as “When Orcs Attack.” In this game you must fend off wave after wave of successively stronger orcs who appear from a glowing portal. You construct walls and towers, each with a special defense to stop the orcs. The game features five different variations.
Each orc you stop in its tracks net you some cash — cash you can use to bolster your defenses in the next round. And certain orcs are sensitive to specific types of defenses, and impervious to others. You also have a collection of spells you can draw on to keep the orcs at bay.
System requirements call for a 1.83GHz or faster Intel or PowerPC, Intel GMA950 or better video, 384MB RAM and 35MB disk space. Hordes of Orcs is a Universal binary.
