MacSoft on Thursday announced the forthcoming release of “Drop Point: Alaska,” a new Mac-exclusive snowboarding action game. Coming in January, the game will cost $24.99.
“Drop Point: Alaska” is a freestyle snowboarding game in which you make runs down a virtual mountain. The game varies time of day, weather conditions, and more. You take your runs by bailing out of a helicopter from ten different and unique drop points — each run can be unique because you can explore miles of terrain. You can also unlock your own pilotable helicopter and fly to any point on the mountain.
A cornerstone of snowboarding games is the ability to pull of incredible tricks, and “Drop Point: Alaska” is no different — the game features more than 100 challenges that you have to master in order to own the mountain. You can master grabs, ground tricks, rail slides and other tricks, grind over the trunks of fallen trees like rails, carve down the mountainside through fresh powder, and take rides as part of the “Alaska Pro Challenge.”
“Drop Point: Alaska” is the work of Bongfish Interactive, creators of the game “Stoked Rider.” Bongfish has previously shown Stoked Rider working on the Mac, and “Drop Point: Alaska” is based on that effort.
The game will run on all Intel-based Macs, according to MacSoft.
