App4Mac on Friday announced the release of CheckUp Preview 2, a new version of its utility designed to monitor the behavior and health of your Mac. Users are welcome to use the new release for free during its public beta period; afterwards, App4Mac will charge $29.
CheckUp monitors the usage of your CPU, memory, disk drives and network adapters, and warns you when resources exceed specific values. You can create usage reports and display information about running processes, terminate processes you don’t want to operate anymore, add rules that will be triggered when conditions are met or have notifications presented to you via Growl, the third-party notification framework software.
CheckUp can also monitor remote Macs over the Internet or local area networks, making it useful for IT administrators. It works with Mac OS X v10.4 or later, including Leopard.
