Reader Robert Quintana is haunted by his habits. He writes:
How can I stop the Spotlight search window from opening when I’m in Photoshop and trying to use “Command-Option-Space” to reduce the image? After using Photoshop for almost 20 years, the keyboard method for this function is a hard habit to break.
Easily done. Just launch System Preferences, click the Spotlight system preference, and at the bottom of the window you’ll see the keyboard shortcut for displaying the Spotlight window. By default this shortcut is, as you’ve observed, Command-Option-Space. You can change it by clicking on the pop-up menu next to the command and choosing an F-key shortcut, or simply highlighting the field and entering a shortcut of your choosing—I use Command-Control-Space, for example.
