Sector 3 Games has announced the release of Turret Wars MP, a networked, multiplayer version of their ballistics game for Mac OS X and Windows. It costs AUS$19.95 (US$17.76). A playable demo is available.
In Turret Wars, you man a gun turret and try to find and destroy your enemies before they find and destroy you. Turret Wars MP is a new version of the game (Sector 3 also makes “Turret Wars Retro, featuring just computer-controlled opponents) that features support for networked players over the Internet or a Local Area Network (LAN).
You can collect powerup bunkers to help you survive, increase your projectile damage or restore your health. There are also missile powerup bunkers that will help you to shoot down enemy bombers and dropships.
The full game features nine environments, each with unique difficulties and challenges, along with four different gun types, each with different weapons and projectiles. You can fight against from one to nine networked players or computer-controlled gun turrets in four difficulty levels, with different wind conditions. High scores are recorded on an Internet-based high score server.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later and a G4/1GHz or faster. It’s a Universal binary.
Users who have already bought the single-player version of Turret Wars can buy Turret Wars MP by paying the difference in license fees, according to the developer.
