Red Sweater Software has released MarsEdit version 2.1, an update to its blogging software for Mac OS X. A free update for registered MarsEdit 2 users, MarsEdit costs $29.95 to register.
MarsEdit enables Mac users to manage offline blogging of Web sites they maintain using a variety of software — everything from WordPress to Blogger, TypePad to Movable Type is supported. The software features an e-mail like interface, template-based previews, markup macros, external editor support, support for the Flickr photo blogging service and much more.
New to the 2.1 version is native tag support for Movable Type and TypePad. The new release has a field for capsule-style tagging, and it will remember tags you’ve typed before. Web preview has been improved, and a new Post Status pop-up makes it easier to save drafts to the server. You can now filter your posts and drafts by keyword by typing in words or phrases to the toolbar search field.
