Apple has added two new iPod games to the iTunes Store this week: Chess & Backgammon Classics and Naval Battle. Both new games were developed by Gameloft, and cost $4.99. The games work on third-generation iPod nanos, iPod classics, and fifth-generation iPods.
Chess & Backgammon Classics features all the official rules of chess and backgammon, and sports adaptable levels of difficulty depending on your skill. You can play in 2D or 3D display modes. There are three different game play modes: Instant Play, Quiz and Classic Games, each with three levels of difficulty.
Naval Battle: Mission Commander is a modern-day reinterpretation of the classic kids’ game Battleship. You position your ships on the grid, and you can use environments and obstacles to your advantage. The game features five original game modes, including a campaign mode with 18 missions. Your fleet includes eight modern ships, each with different characters. Map sizes vary, and the game includes animation and a multiplayer mode. You can launch recon plays, fire torpedoes and use other weapons to neutralize the enemy.
