Although most of the public attention to game maker Blizzard Entertainment is now focused on World of Warcraft and the forthcoming StarCraft II, the company continues to work on older titles such as Warcraft III. A recent post on the Warcraft III General Discussion Forum has some good news for gamers still playing that title.
“Patch 1.21b is completed and should be available online today. Patch 1.21b will not break any of 1.21’s replays,” posted Blizzard employee “Karune.”
The change in 1.21b removes a requirement to have the Warcraft III CD in place in order to play.
Warcraft III is the most recent installment of Blizzard’s now-legendary real-time strategy game series. It’s set in Azeroth, the same fantasy world that serves as the setting for the online role-playing game World of Warcraft. The original Warcraft III game, Reign of Chaos, was followed with an expansion pack, The Frozen Throne. Separate patches have been published for each version.
