Real Software has begun shipping Realbasic 2008 Release 1, the latest version of the company’s cross platform development environment. The company said this version includes introspection, the most requested new feature from its users.
Introspection provides the ability to determine the type and characteristics of an object at runtime. Properties and methods can be accessed in a generic way without having to know the specific type of that object before the code is compiled. This capability allows for more advanced dynamic programming techniques to be used in REALbasic applications, according to the company.
Realbasic 2008, first announced by Real Software at last month’s Macworld Expo, also includes 39 other enhancements and improvements. The Personal Edition costs $100 and the Professional Edition costs $500.
