Those of us who grew up with the songwriting of Dan Fogelberg were saddened last December when he died at the age of 56 of prostate cancer. Dan’s wife Jean on Wednesday released a new song that her husband wrote and delivered to her on Valentines Day 2005 to support cancer research.
“Sometimes A Song” was written by Fogelberg while he and his wife were on separate ends of the country and would miss Valentines Day together.
“On the afternoon of the 14th, the florist brought me a dozen long-stemmed red roses; FedEx brought me a CD with a song Dan had written for me just for Valentine’s Day,” said Jean Fogelberg.
“Sometimes A Song” is available from iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody and WalMart.com.
100 percent of proceeds from all digital sales will be donated to the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
Dan Fogelberg is best known for the songs “Leader of the Band,” “Same Old Lang Syne,” and “Longer.”
