Hamrick Software has released VueScan 8.4.60, a new version of its scan software for Mac OS X, Windows and Linux. A free update for registered users, VueScan costs $39.95 or $79.95 for Standard or Professional Editions, respectively.
VueScan features support for more than 750 scanners, including multitudes whose manufacturers have abandoned Mac users or waited far too long or charged far too much to provide Mac OS X-compatible software. Features include automatic color balancing, built-in calibration, batch scanning and PDF output.
Deskewing enables the software to straighten images that have been rotated slightly as they’ve been scanned. As VueScan supports a number of document scanners, this comes in handy for users who are making digital copies of paper documents.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3 and a compatible scanner.
