Kerio Technologies has announced the release of Kerio MailServer 6.5, a new release of its messaging and calendaring software for Mac OS X, Windows and Linux. It’s priced starting at $499.
Kerio MailServer helps businesses manage e-mail, calendaring, contacts, notes and tasks—it’s a complete “groupware” server. It works with Mac OS X, Windows and Linux clients and also supports mobile platforms, features dual anti-virus control, anti-spam protection, features Web-based e-mail access, and can integrate with Microsoft Entourage and Outlook to act as an alternative to expensive Microsoft Exchange servers.
New to the 6.5 release is support for CalDAV, the same calendaring standard employed by iCal Server, found in Mac OS X Server v10.5. Kerio Mailserver bridges a connection between CalDAV and proprietary calendar standards, enabling users who depend on Microsoft Outlook and Entourage to share calendar data with Apple iCal, Windows Mobile smartphones and Palm Treos.
Kerio Outlook Connector has been enhanced in this release. The software is Kerio’s extension of Microsoft Outlook, and synchronizes e-mail with Kerio MailServer. Kerio Outlook Connector now stores data offline, improving text search capabilities and working better for mobile Outlook users.
