Spanning Sync has announced the release of version 1.2 of its eponymous software and service for Mac OS X users. A free update for registered users, Spanning Sync 1.2 costs $25 for a one-year subscription or $65 for a one-time purchase.
Spanning Sync bridges a connection between iCal and Google Calendar, enabling you to share your calendars with coworkers, family and friends. You can update your calendar via Google and re-sync it to your Macs, distribute calendar data via Google Apps, sync calendars between multiple computers and more.
The 1.2 release makes extensive updates to both the client and server sync engines with resulting performance increases of up to 5 times faster syncing. Events synced from Google Calendar will now inherit iCal’s default alarm (in Leopard), and server-based calendars no longer show up in the Spanning Sync preference pane. Bugs have been fixed, Spotlight no longer tries to index the sync log, and many other minor changes have been introduced.
