Apple’s UK cellular partner confirmed on Thursday the launch of the iPhone in Ireland. O2 set the iPhone launch date for March 14, 2008. The 8GB iPhone will cost €399 and the 16GB iPhone will sell for €499; a variety of monthly plans are also available.
Apple COO Tim Cook said during the company’s most recent financial quarterly conference call that Apple would be moving into Asia and more European countries during 2008. Ireland marks the first of those moves.
An O2 executive said in mid-February that the iPhone was driving “unheard of levels of mobile internet usage,” in the UK.
In its fiscal first quarter Apple sold over 2.3 million iPhones, bringing the total number of units sold to 4 million since its launch in June 2007.
