Apple on Monday released an update to GarageBand, the company’s consumer-level music production application.
According to Apple, GarageBand 4.1.2 improves overall stability and addresses issues with the automation of software instrument parameters. Using automation in a track allows you to do things like adjust the volume or pan in a certain part of the song automatically.
The update also fixed issues with some FireWire and USB based audio devices, as well as a fix for Magic GarageBand.
Magic GarageBand is template-driven view of the program that places a five-piece virtual band at your disposal. To direct that band to play, you select one of nine styles—blues, rock, jazz, country, reggae, funk, Latin, roots rock, and slow blues—choose to listen to a musical snippet or the entire tune, and click the Play button.
You can then move the virtual band into a GarageBand project to edit or add your own instrument.
GarageBand 4.1.2 is available from Apple’s Web site or from software update in Mac OS X.
