Apple on Monday released an update to its recently introduced Aperture 2 photography software. Aperture 2.0.1 is ready for download either through the software update system preference or directly from Apple.
Apple has identified a number of areas that it has improved in Aperture 2.0.1, including:
- Upgrading libraries from earlier versions of Aperture
- Publishing .Mac Web Gallery albums
- Preview generation and deletion
- Creating and ordering books
- AppleScript support
- Keyboard shortcut customization
- Appearance of metadata overlays in the Browser, Filmstrip, and on light tables
- Watermarking of emailed photos
- Highlight Hot and Cold Areas
A number of other “minor issues” have also been corrected in Aperture 2.0.1, including the use of the following features:
- Loupe
- Smart Albums
- All Projects View
- Straighten Tool
- Filmstrip
- Drag and drop import
- Thumbnail generation
- Import window
- Export plug-in reliability
In related news, Apple has posted Aperture InDesign Integration information on its Web site. The pages and QuickTime movies provide information on how Aperture’s enhanced AppleScript support, combined with Adobe InDesign CS3, help provide a smoother workflow for users working with Adobe’s page layout software and Aperture.
Aperture 2.0.1 is recommended for all Aperture users. The update is available only for the full version of Aperture 2. Apple advises that Aperture 2 Trial has also been updated, and users who download the updated version can continue to use their trial version from the original date of first usage.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.4.11 or later.
