Quark on Tuesday introduced Quark Dynamic Publishing Solution (DPS), a publishing system designed to help automate on-demand and personalized publishing.
DPS is designed to reduce or eliminate the dependency on “hand-crafting” published output. It’s based around a Quark Publishing System workflow, using products like QuarkXPress, Microsoft Word and Adobe InDesign. Authors store content in a central repository, and an automated workflow system routes content to where it needs to go for review, versioning and processing. DPS then renders the finished product to formats suitable for publishing in print or online, and finally delivers that content to where it needs to go, as well.
Quark expects DPS to appeal to professional publishers producing newspapers, magazines, books and periodicals, as well as businesses that produce content for printed and online distribution. DPS is also designed to work with marketing communications departments in manufacturing, retail and other industries.
The entire system is streamlined and customized for each individual business’ approach, so Quark sales work with individual customers to understand the workflow, design a content workflow, create publishing templates and a content management system, and integrate disparate systems.
