TweakerSoft has announced the release of VectorDesigner 1.0.5, a maintenance update to its resolution-independent vector graphics application for Mac OS X. A free update for registered users, VectorDesigner costs $69.95 (a demo is available for download).
VectorDesigner is used to create vector drawings, diagrams and illustrations, handles raster images, filtering and color correction. It utilizes Apple’s Quartz and CoreImage technologies and includes tools like smart shapes, bezier creation and editing, and raster to bezier conversion. You can combine shapes using unite, subtraction and intersection boolean tools and fit text inside shapes or along paths. VectorDesigner also integrates a browser for Flickr, the photo blogging service.
While many developers focus on making software optimized for the latest and greatest hardware and software, TweakerSoft has gone back a bit in this new release — version 1.0.5 performs better on PowerPC-based Macs (it’s a Universal binary), and also improves Mac OS X v10.4 “Tiger” compatibility. The developer has improved ColorSync use, as well. Users can now delete an element or path point depending on the current selection, as well.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.4 or later, G4/900MHz or faster, 512MB RAM and 8.9MB hard disk space.
