Ergonis Software has released PopChar X 3.4, an update to its tool for finding and typing special characters on Mac OS X. A free update for registered users who have bought PopChar X within the past two years, it costs 29.99 euros (US$46.14).
PopChar X saves you from having to remember complicated key sequences to make special characters appear. When you pop up the PopChar window, you click the desired character and it appears in your currently open document.
New to this release is an enhanced search feature that lets you find special characters by name, Unicode number or by example. A new context menu lets you copy selected characters to the clipboard in various formats, and the automatic update checking system has been improved for Leopard and apps like InDesign, Illustrator and Excel.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later.
