Aspyr Media on Monday announced that it’s shipping The Sims Castaway Stories for the Mac. It costs $29.99.
The Sims Castaway Stories is a standalone adventure game — not an expansion pack — featuring EA/Maxis’ popular “The Sims.” It can be played either through a directed Story mode, in which you explore an island you find yourself upon, learn to build a shelter, find food, and make your Sims’ lives as enjoyable as you can, or an open-ended “Free Play” ode that lets you create your sims and determine what kind of life they’ll lead.
The is the third installment of The Sims Stories game line, which was originally developed by Aspyr Studios, Aspyr’s in-house game development team.
The Sims Castaway Stories is billed as more “laptop friendly” because it’s not as resource-intensive as the full Sims 2 game. System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later, G4/1GHz or faster, 256MB RAM, 3GB hard disk space, ATI Radeon 9000, GeForce FX 5200 or Intel GMA 950 graphics chipset or better with at least 64MB VRAM and DVD-ROM drive.
