Bombich Software has released
Carbon Copy Cloner 3.1, an update to its hard disk drive cloning software. Carbon Copy Cloner remains donationware, or uncrippled shareware. Users are encouraged to make a donation if they find the software useful.
Carbon Copy Cloner enables you to create a bootable “clone” of your hard drive on another hard drive, useful for backing up data and restoring quickly from a major failure.
The new release implements rsync 3.0.0 — a fairly recent release of the open-source file transfer tool. The update “provides even greater fidelity when backing up using the ‘incremental backup of selected items’ backup method,” according to the developer.
The wording of options in the interface has been made more clear, and “bootability” verification has been improved. Several minor enhancements and bug fixes have also been made.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.4 or later.
