Parallels has released Parallels Server for Mac beta 3, a new version of their server virtualization software for Intel-based Mac hardware.
Parallels Server enables companies to run “virtualized” operating system and server environments, helping IT departments to leverage legacy software while being able to standardize the hardware that runs it. It’s a “bare metal” system that uses Parallels’ Hypervisor technology to set up and run different operating systems and software.
Improvements to the Beta 3 release include an integrated toolset that includes Parallels Tools, Parallels Image Tools and Parallels Transporter (which lets users migrate virtual environments). An open Application Programming Interface (API) and Software Development Kit (SDK) have been added. A Command Line Interface (CLI) and scripting is now supported, as well.
