MacWireless claims 200Mbps via powerline adapter

Macwireless.com has introduced a powerline network adapter for the Macintosh that enables you to route your network through the electrical lines in your home or office. The adapter can support a maximum speed of 200 megabits per second (Mbps). The adapter costs $99.98, and two are required to bridge a connection.

Powerline adapters can be used to extend networks where it’s not affordable or reasonable to run Ethernet cable, or where wireless connectors won’t work or won’t work fast enough, according to the company. They can operate over up to 980 feet of electrical wire.

The adapters operate on any version of Mac OS 9 or Mac OS X, according to MacWireless, and will also work with Windows. No driver is required in order for the devices to operate: You plug an Ethernet connection into each end. Up to 16 devices can operate at the same time.
