Hothead Games has confirmed that Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness: Episode One will be released on May 21, 2008. It will be released simultaneously for Mac OS X, Windows and Linux for $19.99, for download through the new Greenhouse download service; it will also be released for Xbox 360 via the Xbox Live Arcade download service (where it’ll cost 1600 points).
The first in a planned series of RPG adventure games, Penny Arcade Adventures follows the characters of Gabe and Tycho, the same duo appear in the online cartoon Penny Arcade.
While the characters and irreverent, often ribald humor are the same, the situation is different. This time Gabe and Tycho lead the mysterious Startling Developments Detective Agency in the 1920s universe of New Arcadia, a thriving metropolis beset by an invasion of mimes, obscene autonomous fruit juicers and a giant rampaging robot. The game has been rated M for Mature by the ESRB.
System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.4 or later, G4/1.0GHz or faster, ATI Radeon 9500, Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 or Intel GMA 950 or better 3D graphics with at least 64MB VRAM, 512MB RAM, 350MB hard disk space.
Due to a reporting error, the storage requirement for the game was reported in gigabytes rather than megabytes. That has been fixed.
