FileMaker will discontinue support for FileMaker 7 products in late September, according to information posted on its FileMaker Pro 9 upgrade page.
“As of September 26, 2008, technical support and replacement media will no longer be available for any FileMaker 7 products,” reads a sidebar notice posted to the page. To encourage users to upgrade, FileMaker is offering upgrade prices of $119 on FileMaker Pro 9 and $199 on FileMaker Pro 9 Advanced.
FileMaker Pro 9 is the latest major revision to the Apple-owned company’s popular cross-platform database software. Major new features in this release include new conditional formatting support, a “Quick Start” screen to help you get started with a new project, simplified database sharing, easier reporting with a new Append to PDF feature and much more. The previous release, FileMaker Pro 8, was the first to add support for Intel-based Macs, and also added object functions and scripts.
