Hamrick Software on Wednesday announced the release of VueScan 8.4.79, an update to their popular scanning software for Mac OS X, Linux and Windows. A free update for registered users, VueScan 8.4.79 costs $39.95 or $79.95 for the Standard and Professional editions, respectively.
VueScan provides the ability to scan documents and images using a flatbed scanner, replacing the software that often comes with these devices. Hamrick Software has built a niche by developing near-universal support for scanners, enabling devices to work with Mac OS X even if the software that originally came with the devices has been abandoned or orphaned. The software supports more than 750 scanners in total.
Up until now, VueScan was only available in English. This new release now supports localized menus and dialog boxes in 24 languages.
System requirements call for Mac OS X 10.3 or later.
