Cynical Peak Software on Thursday announced the release of Rivet 1.2, an update to its application that helps Mac users stream content to an Xbox 360 video game console on the same network. A free update for registered users, Rivet 1.2 costs $18.95.
Installing Rivet on your Mac enables you to stream (unprotected) video, music and photos from your Mac to the Xbox 360, so you can use the Xbox 360 to stream content to your home entertainment system. Rivet recreates the same organizational structure on your Xbox 360, and quickly updates the Xbox 360 when you add, delete or move files.
The new release adds support for Aperture, Apple’s pro-level photo organization and editing software. A “silent quit” issue has been fixed, along with a problem parsing iTunes libraries and a “possible exception” when parsing media.
System requirements call for Mac OS X 10.5 or later, iTunes for music sharing, a networked Xbox 360 and 2.7MB hard disk space. A demo is available.
