Malkinware has released Reference Tracker 1.0, an academic reference manager and research tool for the Mac. It costs $29.95, and a 21-day trial version is available for download.
Reference Tracker helps writers, researchers and students create documents that store citations and references. It’s suitable for use in essays, research projects and books. Reference Tracker automatically creates Harvard or American Psychological Association (APA)-formatted reference lists to insert where needed.
You don’t need to type out all the details of a reference book — just put in the book’s International Standard Book Number (ISBN) code and Reference Tracker fetches the details from the Internet. If you don’t have the book handy, you can input keywords to get a list of matching results.
Reference Tracker can automatically send formatted reference lists to Microsoft Word or Apple Pages. An importer can read Word or RTF documents, and can import BibTex (.bib) and .ris files.
System requirements call for Mac OS X 10.4 or later, 7.0MB hard disk space and an Internet connection.
