WaveMaker on Monday introduced Visual Ajax Studio 4.0, a new version of their Web 2.0 development engine. Visual Ajax Studio is offered under a dual license; it’s distributed either for free as open source (under the AGPL v3 model) or a commercial license, with prices starting at $599.
Visual Ajax Studio 4.0 enables Web developers to create Web applications using Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (Ajax) technology, a popular method of developing interactive Web applications and so-called “rich Internet applications” (RIAs).
The new 4.0 release of Visual Ajax Studio has been tested for support with Mac OS X 10.5 “Leopard” and works in the Safari Web browser. It also supports other operating systems including Windows and Linux.
Other changes in 4.0 include the ability to assemble apps using databases and Web services; new tools to give a “Mac-quality look” to Web applications; data-aware forms; an “oops” button; auto-discovery of Web services; support for either PostegreSQL and Postgre Plus databases; and more.
