MakeMusic on Thursday announced the release of SmartMusic 11, a major new release of its music learning software for bands, orchestras and choirs. The software is available for Mac OS X and Windows PCs. It costs $30 per year for a home subscription, and $130 per year for an educator subscription.
SmartMusic helps students to practice. The software includes accompaniments for 30,000 titles, exercises to build skills, and recording capabilities. It tracks student abilities, includes band, jazz band and orchestra titles, can listen and follow spontaneous tempo changes, sports a chromatic tuner, transposes between keys and more.
Highlights of SmartMusic II include an easier set-up with fewer screens, hundreds of new titles, new method books for young band and orchestra students, automated weekly rhythm assignments and printable gradebook reports, and support for files created in Finale 2009.
System requirements call for Mac OS X 10.4.11 or later, G4/867MHz or faster (including Intel), 512MB RAM, and a microphone.
