Sonnet Technologies has introduced the Pro Dual CompactFlash Adapter ExpressCard/34. The card works in MacBook Pros and costs $99.95; it’s expected to be released in October.
The new expansion card works faster than a CF card adapter plugged into a USB 2.0 port, according to Sonnet. The card is equipped with two slots for CF memory cards, so you can transfer data from two cards concurrently.
The two slots can accommodate two Type I cards or one Type I and one Type II card simultaneously. It supports sustained data transfer speeds of up to 133MB/sec.
The Pro Dual CompactFlash adapter ExpressCard/34 requires Mac OS X 10.5 or later.
Sonnet’s Web site had not been updated with information about the card as Macworld posted this article.
