Atempo on Wednesday announced Atempo Digital Archive (ADA) for Mac. The new archive system is intended to provide Mac users with enterprise-class archiving capabilities.
ADA for Mac was developed to help end-users move data from primary disk drives in the enterprise onto archival media. You can archive data from an Apple Xserve, for example. An ADA Client interface installed on users’ Macs helps them manage digital assets individually; users can drag and drop files from primary drives into archives.
Features of ADA include de-duplication, full content indexing and search, and Atempo Meter Utility, which identifies inactive, fixed content data that’s ready to be archived.
Atempo Digital Archive for Messaging (ADAM) is a companion product designed to support Microsoft Entourage. A plug-in provides mailbox management and stubbing capabilities for Entourage users. Mac users can access e-mails that have been archived from the Exchange server on their network into ADAM directly using the Entourage interface.
ADA also integrates with Final Cut Server, so it can help video production studios and other environments using Final Cut-based workflows to archive effectively.
