MacPractice, the doctor’s practice management software for Mac OS X, will soon get an update that will ease electronic prescription fulfillment, according to the developer.
An update release coming this fall will provide all MacPractice applications with an extensive drug list. As part of that upgrade, users will gain access to the NewCrop Electronic Prescribing System, a Web-based software tool used to manage e-prescriptions. NewCrop’s system doesn’t require any additional downloads and no new hardware, according to MacPractice.
Prescription history is maintained in the patient’s clinical record in MacPractice, and the interface eliminates redundancy between the two systems. New subscription-based content will include automated allergy, drug information and review, herbals, managed care formularies, drug interactions and leaflets for patient education in 18 languages.
