REAL Software on Tuesday announced the release of REALbasic 2008 Release 4, a new version of its cross-platform software development environment. The new release is free for users of REALbasic 2008. REALbasic is priced starting at $100.
REALbasic 2008 Release 4 adds more than 300 improvements and six new features, according to the developer. New features include Control Locking, which lets you lock a control in the Integrated Development Environment (IDE) so its position and size can’t be edited. Tab Stops are also new — they let you specify controls to be skipped over when tabbing through the user interface. You can also automatically determine the tab order for all controls. Several new system warnings have been added. REALbasic 2008 Release 4 now allows the use of constants and enumerations in declarations.
Codesign is also new — it enables Mac OS X developers to “digitally sign” REALbasic applications for greater security.
