Aquafadas has announced the release of VideoPier and VideoPier HD, two new utilities designed to help users of camcorders that use MPEG-2 or AVCHD. VideoPier and VideoPier HD cost $49 and $79 respectively.
VideoPier transfers clips from MPEG-2 and AVCHD camcorders to a central location on your Mac without requiring any conversion and with no loss in quality. Clips are grouped by Events in the VideoPier user interface, and can be converted to any format from there. VideoPier HD also lets you capture HDV material directly from tape-based HDV camcorders.
While newer versions of Apple’s video software supports AVCHD, many older versions do not. So if you’re using an AVCHD camcorder on a Mac using, for example, iMovie 06, this can help you.
VideoPier requires Mac OS X 10.4.11 or later, G4/1GHz or faster (including Intel) and 512MB RAM.
