Adobe Systems on Wednesday announced the release of Flash Player 10 software. Available for Mac OS X, Windows and Linux operating systems, Flash Player 10 is a free download from Adobe’s Web site.
Flash Player 10 adds a new text engine that enables Flash developers to incorporate more text layout options and better text control. Designed with the newly-released Creative Suite 4 in mind, Flash Player 10 enables new effects and filters using Adobe Pixel Bender technology. New filters, blend modes, and fills can animate effects or change the effect of rich media content, according to Adobe. What’s more, Flash Player 10 enables developers to use new 3D animation and transformation techniques.
Adobe calls Flash Player the “world’s most pervasive application runtime,” with content distributed over 98 percent of Internet-enabled desktops.
System requirements call for Mac OS X 10.4 or later, a PowerPC or Intel-based Mac, and a supported browser (browsers include newer builds of Firefox, Safari and Opera).
