Apple posted a migration update for owners of the new MacBook and MacBook Pro notebooks released earlier this week at the special notebook event.
Migration and DVD/CD Sharing Update allows the computer it is installed on to act as an optical drive host.
According to Apple, the update provides enhanced customization capabilities and improved performance for migration over FireWire, Ethernet and wireless networks. This should help those users that were having difficulties migrating data to the new MacBook, which doesn’t have FireWire.
For Mac OS X 10.4.11 users, the update installs Migration Assistant 1.0.6, Mac OS X Remote Install 1.1, and DVD or CD Sharing. Those that are running Mac OS X 10.5.5, the update installs Migration Assistant 1.2.3, Mac OS X Remote Install 1.1, and DVD or CD Sharing.
The update can be
downloaded from Apple’s Web site or via the software update mechanism in Mac OS X.
