Problem: You have a mass of music and audio stored on your Mac’s capacious hard drive yet you want to enjoy that media on a portable device that offers very little storage. What to do?
Solution: Find a way to access that media remotely from your iPhone or iPod touch.
And that’s the point of this Macworld Video: Streaming media from your Mac to a remote computer or iPhone or iPod touch. I offer two solutions—one for audio and the other for video.

As I explain in the video, the audio solution is Simplify Media, a service I recently wrote about in our Playlist blog. With a free desktop client, $4 iPhone/iPod touch application, and access to a Wi-Fi network, you can enjoy the unprotected portion of your iTunes library on the go (and so can 30 of your closest friends).
The video solution is “free” only if you’ve already purchased a copy of Roxio’s $80 Toast Titanium 9. Included with Toast Titanium 9 is Roxio Streamer, an application that allows you to stream media converted for Streamer from your Mac to any device that can access a web browser (and that includes your iPhone or iPod touch).
