Those looking to manage their media from their portable device have a new ally in the form of the latest update to iPhone app i. TV from the company of the same name. Chief among the improvements to the new version, 1.1, is the ability to link the program to a Netflix account.
i. TV is sort of a one-stop shop for managing your media: it also lets you view a complete listing of shows from your local television provider and search for nearby movies and theaters. A search function lets you trawl movies, television, and Netflix for appropriate results. The new Netflix features, which take advantage of the service’s recently released API, feature the ability to manage your queue, including filtering for titles available with Netflix’s “Watch Instantly” feature. You can reorder your queue, view related titles, and add and remove items.
Of course, you’ll need a Netflix subscription in order to use those features, but i. TV itself is a free download from the App Store. It requires and iPhone or iPod touch running the iPhone 2.0 software or later.
