Xsilva Systems on Tuesday announced Web Store 2.0, an add-on for its LightSpeed point of sale (POS) system for Mac OS X. It’s coming in January, 2009—transition details for current customers will be made available in December.
LightSpeed is a Mac-based POS that enables retailers to manage their inventory and sales processes. The software features quoting, ordering and invoicing capabilities, credit card processing, job and timesheet management, customer contact information, multi-store lookup and transfer support and more. It also features an iTunes-like browser interface.
LightSpeed also offers an e-commerce system for retailers who want an online sales presence. Web Store 2.0 is a redesigned version of that e-commerce system, rebuilt from the ground up, according to Xsilva Systems. The new version features a SQL-based database back end that enables individual customer accounts and secure customer logins. Customers can create and mange their own accounts and track their own history.
Web Store 2.0 also sports an administrative panel built into LightSpeed, provides Search Engine Optimized (SEO) pages, supports cross-selling related products, adds product option support and multiple images, processes credit cards in realtime, and also provides realtime shipping calculations for major carriers including UPS, FedEx and the U.S. Postal Service. Users can also maintain “Wish Lists” and do Service Repair Order (SRO) lookups.
