Softpress Systems on Thursday announced the release of Freeway 5.3, an update to its Web design software. A free update for Freeway 5 users, Freeway is available in Express and Pro editions for $79 and $249 respectively.
Freeway is a visual Web site creation software package that uses an interface familiar to graphic designers and others who work with page layout software. It supports Cascading Style Sheet (CSS)-based menus, Google Actions, Blogger teplates and other capabilities, manages graphics effects on text and multiple master pages.
New to the 5.3 release is improved support for iPhone and iPod touch users. Specifically, Freeway-created Web sites that make use of Flash video (FLV) content can now host both FLV and QuickTime formats of the movie on the page. Since the iPhone and iPod touch can’t view FLV files, they’ll use the QuickTime movie instead.
The new release now includes “iPhone Actions” to help manage this transition. Web site developers can also use iPhone redirects — pushing iPhone and iPod touch users to a specific page that has been designed for them.
Freeway 5.3 requires Mac OS X 10.4 or later.
