Adobe Systems on Thursday announced the release of Premiere Pro CS4 4.0.1, an update to its video editing software that’s part of the Creative Suite 4 Production Premium package. It’s a free update for registered users. Adobe Premiere Pro costs $799.
Premiere Pro provides an editing workflow for digital video editors and producers, providing editing tools, color correction and other effects, audio filters, metadata workflow, extensive format compatibility, speech search, output to the Web, and integration with other Adobe Creative Suite 4 products.
New to 4.0.1 is support for project exchange with Apple Final Cut Pro, Digidesign Pro Tools and Avid workflows. The software supports XML interchange, export to Open Media Framework (OMF) format, and the ability to import and export projects in Advanced Authoring Format (AAF).
Other enhancements include full support for 64-bit computing platforms and native support for RED R3D files without needing to transcode or rewrap them. Other changes include performance enhancements “in all areas of the workflow.”
