Spiderweb Software has announced the release of
Geneforge 5: Overthrow, a new fantasy role-playing game for the Mac. It costs $28. A demo is available.
Geneforge 5: Overthrow is the final game in the long-running series; it’s set in the land of the Shapers, a sect of wizards with the ability to create new life to serve them. Their servants have rebelled, and the world has fallen into ruin. You play a traveler in this world, fighting to bring an end to the war. You can choose sides, trying to end the reign of the Shapers once and for all, or join them and try to crush the rebels.
A throwback to computer strategy games of yore, Geneforge 5 employs an isometric (three-quarters) view and turn-based action and combat. The game features an open storyline that enables you to service one of five different factions, each one with a different path to victory.
System requirements call for Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later, 50MB free RAM, 200MB hard disk space.
