IDG World Expo announced Thursday the Macworld Music Studio, a special venue for music lovers that will make an appearance at Macworld Conference & Expo, which happens from January 5 – 9, 2009 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, Calif.
Macworld Music Studio is a collaboration between Macworld Conference & Expo and Boston’s renowned Berklee College of Music. It’s a show floor event that features instruction, demonstrations, performances and training on how to make music using your Mac.
Berklee College of Music faculty, pro musicians, studio engineers and others will perform and demonstrate various equipment and tools. Macworld magazine editor at large Jim Dalrymple — also an accomplished rock guitarist — will lead a session entitled “You, Your Mac, A Guitar and Apple’s Mainstage.”
Also featured is John Denner, a self-taught musician who was born without his right hand, who will do three special performances, and Little Kids Rock, a non-profit organization that focuses on getting and keeping music instruction in public schools. Denner and Little Kids Rock will perform and record a song live on the show floor.
Other music-related sessions include “Making Music with the Mac – Putting It to Work,” “Mac for the Guitarist,” “Creating and Adding Drumbeats and Grooves with Your Mac,” “The Mac DJ” and “Plug Ins and Software Instruments.”
IDG World Expo and Macworld are both owned by International Data Group (IDG).
